In my latest interview with Jim Goddard on Howestreet.com, we talked about how insiders were on top of Canada's growth rebound six months before the Bank of Canada. Looking ahead, there are big implications for a wide range of assets if the Bank of Canada joins the global central bank tightening parade:
- Canadian real estate (not good)
- Marijuana stocks (not good)
- FANG stocks (not good)
- Bank stocks (mixed)
On the positive side, if world growth hangs in there, then pockets of the Canadian market could benefit, including strategic elements like cobalt.
Will high flying stocks come back to earth as the Fed's tightening parade motors on?
For diversification, some exposure into assets such as metals miners that are tied to global growth and geopolitical competition may make sense as high priced momentum stocks come under pressure from rising rates.
