2020 was characterized by lockdowns and the grounding of global air travel. All that led to many people being stranded in their host country. Sure, that was no problem for some. However, those people who were residents of countries with currency restrictions started finding it hard to access their own cash.
So, what was the solution? Well, many turned to Bitcoin.
Human Rights
Financial transactions say a lot about you and can be used as a scalable way to surveil entire populations. Even worse, payment processors like Visa can stifle free speech by cutting off funding to organizations they don’t like. That’s exactly what happened to WikiLeaks.
The solution? Accepting crypto donations.
Remittance Markets
The global remittance market is set to hit $930 billion by 2026. That’s a ton of money that economic migrants are sending back to their families.
