Commercial Fluid Power Provides Notification of Data Security Incident

PR Newswire

DOVER, OH - Commercial Fluid Power ("CFP") has become aware of a data security incident that may have impacted information belonging to certain individuals.

On August 24, 2023, CFP discovered that it was victimized by a sophisticated ransomware attack that resulted in a limited network disruption. Upon discovery, CFP immediately took steps to secure its network, and began working with its I.T. team and third-party specialists to investigate the full nature and scope of the incident. The investigation determined that certain files were subject to access by an unauthorized third party during the attack. Following a thorough analysis, it was determined that information contained in the affected data set may have included personally identifiable information ("PII"). The type of information believed to be at risk includes first and last names, in combination with one or more of the following: date of birth, Social Security number, driver's license number, credit card information, financial account information, health insurance information, and/or medical information.

Upon learning of the potential access of information, together with third-party specialists, CFP undertook a thorough review of the affected information to identify all potentially affected individuals. CFP then began a time-consuming, manual review of its internal records to identify contact information for those potentially affected. This comprehensive review process was recently completed, and CFP is now providing notice accordingly.

At this time, CFP is not aware of any evidence to suggest that any information has been misused.  Nonetheless, CFP provided notice to potentially affected individuals out of an abundance of caution. In response to this incident, CFP has implemented additional security measures within its network and is reviewing its current policies and procedures related to data security. Although CFP has no reason to believe any individual's information has been or will be misused as a result of this incident, individuals are nonetheless encouraged to monitor their credit reports and account statements for suspicious activity and to detect errors.

CFP has established a toll-free number to answer questions about the incident and to address related concerns. The number to call is 1-800-405-6108. Representatives are available to assist you with questions regarding this incident between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
