A New Paradigm
Dario’s views of the global economy’s structure and how the next decade plays out are very different from those of most observers. He thinks the 1970s analogue is the wrong one to look at and that the postwar decades, the 1940s and the 1950s, provide a better framework. At the same time, he foresees a move toward a "tangible economy" and away from the "intangible economy" of the 2010s. In a fascinating and thought-provoking discussion, Dario and Raoul talk about ramifications of this transition for inflation, growth, and interest rates. Recorded on May 12th, 2022.

"A Perfect Storm" Promises More Pain
Do U.S. investors pay enough attention to what’s happening in overseas markets? Real Vision’s expert on the ground in Asia, Weston Nakamura, shares some data at the top of today’s Daily Briefing that may open your eyes to underlying systemic cracks growing in China and Japan. Then, Maggie Lake is joined by Peter Boockvar, who’s concerned about how a slowing world economy will impact companies. “I think the main story now is margin contraction and the direction of earnings,” says the CIO of Bleakley Advisory Group. “We now have P/E multiples compressing, profit margins rolling over, and the growing prospect that sales will slow in response to both supply issues and the growing prospect of an economic slowdown. It’s a perfect storm.” Is there more pain to come? Peter thinks so. Want to submit questions? Drop them right here on the Exchange: https://rvtv.io/3wvTE24.
Crypto's Fate Is Tied to Old School Finance
There's a narrative in the crypto space that digital assets are uncorrelated to other markets. In fact, the opposite is true. Francis Hunt returns to analyze Bitcoin's price action relative to forex markets, bonds, and U.S. equities. We could see a brief rally, but we're still in a "risk-off environment," says Hunt. "Do not become overly aggressive to the bullish side. People are going to call this bottom one cycle too soon." But it's not all doom and gloom from The Market Sniper. Hunt believes Federal Reserve policy is driving U.S. dollar strength, so he's trading the greenback. He walks Real Vision's Ash Bennington through his forex trades, noting that forex markets have been "the new crypto markets." Recorded on May 17, 2022.
