CPI Runs Hot--Are We Headed For Stagflation?

Real VisionOctober 13, 2021
September’s CPI report revealed that, as energy and food prices climbed, consumer prices rose 0.4%, pushing the year-over-year inflation to an uncomfortably hot 5.4%. Yield curves flattened after the CPI released with shorter-dated yields rising and longer-dated yields falling. Tech stocks are advancing while banks and energy stocks are faltering, including JP Morgan ($JPM) despite their Q3 earnings topping analyst estimates. Darius Dale, founder and CEO of 42 Macro, joins to discuss the rapidly rising probability of realizing stagflation in Q4. Interviewed by Jack Farley. Want to submit questions? Navigating the Supply Chain Through Maritime Shipping
The commonly overlooked topic of supply chains has suddenly taken center stage in the debate over the trajectory of our economy, and for good reason - global supply chain systems transcend and impact consumers, producers, corporates, policymakers, and market participants. At the heart of global logistics is the marine shipping industry, a massive and highly complex global network of actors, from shippers to ports and industry to governments, who are ultimately responsible for the intercontinental flow of goods - or as our guest Captain John Konrad, CEO of gCaptain puts it, “these mega-ships and ports are too big to fail.” Yet, are they failing? Lars Jensen, CEO of Vespucci Maritime, observes that the maritime shipping industry is not only unbroken but “the current mess is the result of everybody doing everything right.” Weston Nakamura hosts Konrad and Jensen in a tri-continental discussion, diving deep into the chaotic world of marine shipping and logistics from a multi-decade, international perspective to figure out how we got to where we are, and what lies ahead for global trade and commerce. How Blockchain Democratizes Commercial Real Estate
Commercial real estate has always been a rich man’s asset class. Ed Nwokedi, founder and CEO of RedSwan CRE, joins Nick Halaris, president of Metros Capital, to discuss how that is changing. The digitization of real estate is well underway, as will be evident to viewers who have been following Halaris’s interview series. Nwokedi and RedSwan have brought a niche to the tokenized real estate space by focusing on commercial real estate, even allowing investors to purchase shares of real estate with Dogecoin! As realtors know, commercial real estate is an entirely different beast from residential. Nwokedi sees a return to normal on the horizon as countries begin opening up and people begin going back to work. This makes commercial property an attractive asset, which historically has been a stable source of returns on par with major stock indices. Nwokedi makes the case for increased stability within this asset class with the advent of tokenization, which will provide much-needed liquidity to the secondary market. Recorded on November 2, 2021.

The Supremacy Battle Begins: Virtual Reality or AR
Scott Galloway, professor of marketing at the NYU Stern School of Business, is rightly famous for being one of the world’s best and most outspoken thinkers on the intersection of technology and consumers. He doesn’t come at it with the irrational or unwarranted optimism of a venture capitalist, with a fresh capital allocation and hopes and dreams, but as an entrepreneur, schooled in the realities of business, and as university lecturer and professional cynic – a title he wears with pride. His read on where the big tech giants are going and how media will transform is unparalleled. Raoul and Scott dig into the Exponential Age thesis and where the opportunities lie. They both really hit their stride in their mutual passion for communities and media, and we all get to watch as they brainstorm how Web 3.0 and media will evolve. This is one hell of a conversation. Recorded on November 22, 2021.
