TORONTO, Sept. 22, 2017 /CNW/ - For the first time in Canada, leaders in technology, business and innovation will convene to explore the impact of exponential technologies on privacy, finance, healthcare, citizenship and the environment at the SingularityU Canada Summit on October 11 and 12. While the live Summit takes place at Toronto's Evergreen Brickworks, Canadians are invited to take part in twelve satellite events and additional livestream viewings that will bring the content to local communities from coast-to-coast-to-coast.

"There is so much incredible research and innovation happening in every corner of the country. The Summit and satellite events will highlight many of these breakthroughs and provide an opportunity to bridge the conversation between industries and communities," says Oren Berkovich, CEO of SingularityU Canada Summit. "Our community partners are crucial to connect exponential ideas to changemakers in every city."

SingularityU Canada Summit satellite events will be hosted at local technology hubs and leading organizations in more than a dozen cities across the country and will leverage the Summit livestream while running participant-driven activities and highlighting local innovations.

The satellite events will enable entrepreneurs, students, and local communities to contribute to the discussion and direction of exponential technologies in Canada. Events will focus on the future of energy, the environment, healthcare, citizenship, and prosperity for Canada and the world. Conversations are designed to spark a shift in the mindset of all Canadians and equip them to apply technology to solutions that can support the world and transform industry.

Livestream events will also be hosted across the country. The public will have the opportunity to take part in viewing parties alongside other local creators and disruptors in cities including Victoria, Fredericton, Halifax, St. John's and more.

The Summit and satellite events will bring together industry professionals for positive change and create a platform to showcase made in Canada technologies and local thought leaders on the global stage.

ABOUT THE SINGULARITYU CANADA SUMMIT
SingularityU Canada Summit is the premier launch event of a new movement in Canada seeking to bring together the leading Canadian and International thought leaders to inspire Canadians to shape the Future of Canada and drive global impact. A forum for true debate and uncommon conversations about how technologies like artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and digital medicine will impact the way we live and work.

The inaugural SU Canada Summit will take place on October 11 – 12 at the Evergreen Brickworks in Toronto, Ontario and will move to different cities every year.

Building the Canadian platform of Singularity University was made possible when a grassroots movement of Canadian SU alumni brought together a visionary group of founding members including ATB, BMO, CIBC, Canadian Medical Association, CN, Deloitte, FairVentures, Goodmans LLP, Google, the Government of Ontario, RBC, Rogers Communications, Scotiabank, Suncor, TMX and TD Bank Group. Together this initial group is on a mission to share SU's exponential mindset and bold thinking with Canadians from coast to coast to coast.

The group is working closely with leading edge innovation hubs, academic institutions, and NGOs across the country to create a pan-Canadian network of partners who wish to come together and discuss Canada's role in shaping our collective future.
