Some of the key findings from the survey include stories and statistics indicating that women are increasingly making use of digital technology to lower the threshold in the workplace. 86% of respondents said tools and resources were invaluably important for them in getting their businesses off the ground or taking their business to the next level.

"Starting a business is challenging. And juggling business processes and childcare responsibility is a constant struggle. Easy-to-use and cheap online tools on the market provide increased opportunities for me to jump-start the process of launching my business. I found and built connections with my early customers through a Dingtone phone number, which truly helped me through the rough initial stages," Janie J., who started selling handmade soap online during the pandemic, described the importance of online tools and platforms for her business.

Results also identified that women and moms have to walk a fine line when it comes to flexibility with work-life balance, particularly in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic when many were working from home.

"Working as an influencer makes me excited and exhausted, especially when I started to gain higher visibility. I need to work together with brand representatives remotely discussing back and forth for content creation and promotion, and I want to always sound professional and build up my profile in the industry," Amelia K., a video creator and influencer with more than 20,000 followers, explained the reason she provides a separate line, which is different from her main phone number, for business partners.

Additional findings of the survey and interviews include:

  • 72% of the respondents chose to describe the flexibility of working time and workplaces as a bittersweet symphony for working moms. While flexible, remote jobs enable them to stay in the workforce, working moms have to deal with the challenges of multi-tasks and mental health.
  • Women and moms are fitting into the small business economic engine. 45% of women surveyed became self-employed or started small businesses from home during the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • Female business owners are overall open-minded about emerging trends in the workplace. 65% of the respondents said they are willing to accept remote or hybrid workplaces.

"Dingtone's phone number service has seen rapid growth in the past two years," said Dora Yale, Senior Marketing Manager at Dingtone. We are honored to serve as a supportive and reliable partner to encourage the growing female entrepreneurship."

"Collectively, we can forge ahead in the fight for women's equality," she added.

The survey is part of Dingtone's initiative to support and empower females and female-owned businesses worldwide.
